A Free OCR Tool You Can Use Without Signing Up
ImageToText.is pulls text out of images, PDFs, and screenshots in your browser. Drop a file in, get the text. No account, no payment, no email.
Upload, extract, copy.
Drop a file in (or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V). We send it to our OCR service, get the text back, and delete the file right after. The result shows up in a box where you can copy it.
The whole thing usually takes a few seconds. There's nothing to install and nothing to configure.
The service runs on a small server. We pay for it out of pocket, with a bit of ad revenue on the side. If you find it useful and want to help, the contact page has a few options.
What you should know
Files aren't stored
Uploaded files are deleted once the text is extracted. We don't keep copies and we don't read them.
No signup
Open the page, drop a file, get text. No email, no account, no credit card.
50+ languages
English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, and many more. Pick one or let auto-detect guess.
It's free
No paid tier, no "pro" version behind a paywall. Ads cover the server costs. That's the whole business model.
Works in your browser
Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari. Phone or desktop. Nothing to install.
Run by humans
If something's broken or missing, drop a line on the contact page. We read everything and fix what we can.
